La ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm. “Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.”

The Tireless Lamp Maker

In a small town, there lived a man named Kareem. He was known for making the finest oil lamps. Every day, he would sit in his workshop, shaping metal, polishing glass, and carefully filling lamps with oil.

Zayd visited Kareem

One night, a young boy named Zayd visited Kareem. He watched as Kareem worked late into the night. Curious, Zayd asked, “Uncle Kareem, don’t you ever get tired? You work from morning until night.”

Kareem smiled and said, “Zayd, if I stop working, the lamps will not shine. If the lamps do not shine, people will be left in darkness. I do my work for Allah, knowing that even if no one sees my effort, He does.”

Lesson to stay consistence

Zayd thought for a moment and said, “So even if no one thanks you, you still keep going?”

Kareem nodded. “Yes, because success is not about how many people notice me, but how sincerely I do my work. The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to stay consistent, even in small deeds.”

Zyad as a Scholar

Years later, Zayd became a great scholar. He often told his students, “I learned patience and consistency from a lamp maker. Just as a lamp never stops shining, we must never stop striving for good.”
