Lesson

The Angry Boy and the Wise Old Man

In a small village, there was a boy named Omar. He was kind and helpful, but he had one big problem—he got angry very quickly. If someone took his toy, he would shout. If someone bumped into him, he would push them.

One day, his mother took him to a wise old man in the village. She said, “Omar, this man will teach you something very important.”

Old man & Omar

The old man smiled and gave Omar a wooden board and some nails. “Every time you get angry, hammer a nail into this board,” he said.

Omar Hammering Nails when he gets angry

Omar agreed. The first day, he hammered many nails. The second day, a little less. Slowly, he realized it was tiring to hammer so many nails.
After a few weeks, he hardly had to hammer any nails. He ran to the old man and said, “I don’t get angry as much anymore!”

Omar Pulling Out Nails

The old man smiled and said, “Now, for every day you stay calm, pull out one nail.”

Omar did as he was told. After many days, he removed all the nails. He ran back, excited.

Moral of the Story

The old man pointed at the board and said, “Look at the holes. Even though the nails are gone, the marks remain. Anger leaves marks in people’s hearts, just like these holes. That is why our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us to control our anger.”
Omar understood the lesson. From that day on, he tried his best to stay patient and kind.

Moral of the Story:
Anger can hurt others and leave scars, even after we apologize. Islam teaches us to control our anger and be patient
